A Must Read!

Dr. Gary Seigel has written an amazing, entertaining book teaching how to keep your foot out of your mouth. The graphics, fonts and "test questions" took what could be a very dry subject and made it very interactive and fun. I only wish this book would have been available when I started my career. Many communication blunders could have been avoided. "The Mouthtrap" should be required reading for every high school and college student!

I'm so glad I found this book!

Dr. Seigel has written a smart, direct, witty book that I wish I'd read when I was younger! I strongly recommend it to anyone who has to interact with other people (and isn't that everyone?), to anyone who has ever struggled with how to handle an awkward situation or stumbled over how to say just the right words in a given situation. This book is expertly written, everything is easy to understand and digest and, most importantly, it is full of practical advice that you can use right now. And it's fun to read. What more can you ask? I'm going to give it to all my friends on their birthdays (and to other people anonymously!).

A Brilliant Book

This book explains exactly what I tried to teach the people who worked for me over the years. Apparently Dr. Seigel can do what I couldn't, and what so many working people need...simple, straightforward advice in an enjoyable read!

I really enjoyed reading The Mouth Trap

In my reading of the Mouth Trap I found it to be extremely informative as well as an entertaining book. I especially enjoyed the many third party anecdotes and discussions that helped to explain your main points. In addition, I thought that the graphics, typeface, and style made the book more attractive than other self-help motivational books that I have read previously and therefore your style made it easier to digest the information. I couldn't help but generate my own hopefully correct answers to the questions at the end of each chapter.

Modern Advice for a Changing World

Dr. Seigel has sound advice for managing a world dominated by fast communication styles. I was particularly impressed with his M.A.D.E. acronym for planning email communication (pp. 185-187). It helped me understand how to avoid putting too much detail in emails. He is right on target with a comment about social styles (p. 98) thinking ahead as to how they can interrupt. I like the way he linked examples to characters in the famous Harry Potter novels (p. 45). He demonstrates, on p. 65, how the curse of knowledge can damage us. His book is sprinkled with humorous, real-world examples and was easy to read. I enjoyed his work.
