Gus Turner is not your typical hero. In fact, he's not much of a hero at all. A washed-up tour guide with an overinflated sense of adventure and a knack for stumbling into trouble, Gus spends his days leading uninspired safaris and dodging debt collectors in his sleepy coastal town. But when a wealthy, eccentric client offers him a small fortune to retrieve a "priceless artifact" from an uncharted island, Gus can't resist the promise of glory-or the payday.
Armed with little more than his outdated survival skills and an old map that's more holes than paper, Gus sets out on his misadventure. Joining him is his reluctant assistant, Lena-a whip-smart, sarcastic local with zero faith in Gus's abilities-and a clueless millionaire adventurer with a shiny new drone and zero survival skills.
What begins as a straightforward treasure hunt quickly spirals into chaos. The artifact, it turns out, is the key to unlocking a legendary curse, and Gus and his team have inadvertently awakened it. Now they must navigate treacherous jungles, outsmart a rival treasure hunter who's always two steps ahead, and face a series of comically disastrous obstacles, including a tribe of mischievous monkeys and a volcano on the verge of eruption.
As the stakes get higher and their luck runs lower, Gus must confront his own flaws and prove that even the most unlikely adventurer can rise to the occasion-sometimes by sheer accident.
