ESSENTIAL FOR GUIDING BUSINESS DECISIONS

The circulation of money is the heartbeat of any business or professional operation. This vital book has saved my business thousands and given me an understanding about how the flow money is controlled through the accounting process. I especially liked the text book approach, where information is logically presented and then built upon as a stepping stone to an understanding of accounting. It is no wonder that this book is now in its fourth edition. This book is essential for anyone who wants to be successful in a business or professional operation.

A "Must Own" Accounting Book

I own a small business and I needed to get a basic understaning of accounting. This book ended up being the perfect choice The book is very well written and explains accounting in plain english. It gives you what you need to know in order to study accounting in a format that you can very easily understand. The included study plans are extremely helpful as well as the self tests that go along with each chapter. There are not too many books out there that are this informative. I especially enjoyed the author's style of writing. Normally this can be a tedious topic to read about, but not this book. It's very practical in introducing you to real life accounting.

A thorough, well-written introduction to accounting

For those of us who don't have an accounting background, but need to have one fast, this book is great. I didn't follow the 36-hour guideline, although I have no doubt that the "course" can be completed in that time. I read it leisurely, an hour here, an hour there, and was able to read the book in two weeks. Each chapter has a distinct lesson, with an "exam" at the end of the chapter (and supplemental exams in the back of the book). The content is well written, with plenty of great examples and definitions of basic terms. I don't have an accounting background, but I needed one, and selected this book as one of many to get myself up to speed. This book was the best of several that I choose, and I do think it did the best job in terms of education. The book can be read straight through, or you can use it as a reference - the contents are segmented in such a way that it's a handy reference guide. Highly recommended for those people without accounting backgrounds who need one.
