As a former Pony Express rider, the Sarge enlists the help of Billy Bob (a Kentucky Hill Billy) to help solve the mystery. Add in a young aspiring songwriter and a railroad accountant, and the mixture produces a zany and crazy situation which has become typical of a "Mayhem Mysteries" story. If you enjoy mysteries without the murder, then this story is for you.
