Amazingly detailed characters!

I don't read many literary novels. Okay, in recent years, I've read precisely one. This one. I'm so glad I did. The characters are vivid, and the sense of place is so good I felt like I was there. I was worried that, like some literary novels, the ending would leave me longing, and it did on some level, but there was still a pleasant hum at the end for me. If you spend your time reading gritty genre books by Stephen King, you will appreciate this one. Full disclosure, I met Tom in a Gotham Writers' workshop, and he is a character himself. His in-person storytelling is excellent as well.
