Another good entry in an excellent series

I enjoyed this a great deal. Although I saw some of the plot twists coming, I really groaned when I got to the end and saw the clues I had been missing put together in such a way!Like all of Kienzle's books, the more you know about Scripture and Catholic Tradition, the more likely you are to enjoy the book. My only complaint (and again, the whole series is like this) -- once again, anyone who is in any way a traditionalist is either a villain, a legalist, or a hypocrite -- just once, I wish Kienzle would create a sympathetic "conservative" Catholic. And the asides about church marriage law lose a little originality when they appear in every story... but these are secondary concerns to a good story with two interwoven plots, and lots of well-hidden (but NOT unfairly hidden) clues and twists.

Wonderfully written story of murder, lust, and religion.

"The Man Who Loved God" was a nonstop thrill ride. This story of adultery and its consequences was beautifuuly written. A woman like Barbara had great obstacles to overcome throughout her life: her abortion, her realization with her being a lesbian, her marriage, her pregnancy. It was not a story book life. The secondary story of Father Tully finding his brother added quite a twist to the book. There was going to be some involvement with Father Tully, but you didn't know where. The bonding of the two stories, Barbara's pregnancy and Father Tully's finding of his brother, was beautifully intricated. The mystery of who inpregnated Barbara and her murder, as well as the murder of her husband, was not clearly revealed until the end, though there were clues throughout the book. An excellent book for excitement and suspense.
