Have you ever wondered how the world's best football players developed from childhood football fanatics to global superstars? When did they start to play football? Did they play other sports? What did they do outside of football practice? How did they cope from setbacks? In 2019, I attempted to answer these question as part of my Master's studies at Solent University. I undertook a comprehensive autobiographical analysis of England's golden generation: Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham and Michael Owen. In particular I focused on the activities and behaviours they carried out in childhood and adolescence. My method, findings and discussion of practical implications for talent development are presented in this book.
