The Magic Show

By Heather Schlessman

Kai Summers never expected the dark thoughts of death she experienced while washing dishes one rainy night could destroy the happy life she thought she had. She had lived her life just as she thought she should - making sure everyone around her was happy. It had never occurred to her that her own happiness didn't depend on this. Kai experiences an existential crisis that threatens everything she thought she knew, including her marriage. Her life no longer seems to fit, and she can't seem to figure out how to move forward. Self-discovery, love and adventure are at the heart of this novel. We travel with Kai Summers from the dark, wet winter of Portland, Oregon to the warm sunny summer beaches of Hawaii. The story also describes the inner journey of the soul as Kai tries to find what we all are searching for, happiness.
