A new technology known as the Moment of Demise (or MOD) is growing in popularity, giving it's wearer a count-down to the final moments before they die. Homicide Analysis Detective Harry Jackson has some reservations about the MOD, and he seems to be the only one noticing some disturbing trends... and disturbing people.

NYPD Detective Harry Jackson digs deeper into the mysteries surrounding the MOD device, as well as the seemingly calculated deaths that only he seems to be taking particular note of.

There was fresh blood that saturated the papers as he retrieved them from the printer tray in his dim upstairs bedroom. His hands shook violently as he reached blindly for his chair. He was weak, too weak to pull the chair out any farther than to allow just enough room for him to slide in and set the crimson pages near his Smith & Wesson MP9. It was still warm; he could feel the radiant heat from the gun when he grabbed his pen. He flipped through a few of the pages in order to find one that wasn't quite so wet - would be too difficult to try to pen quickly on damp pulp, and this warning message needed to count. Two turns of the lamp switch caused it to crackle on, revealing the footprints from the doorway on the white carpet, pooling in the center of the room, then to the printer and desk. He was sure some of the blood must be his. There was just too much to only be someone else's. He took pause for a moment before penning his letter of warning.
