U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive-a photograph he found of a woman he doesn't even know. Learning her name is Beth (Taylor Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.

First, I have to confess that I have not read the book. This is not my preferred genre for reading.
The film, however, deserves a viewing as it does ring around what could have been a Hallmark movie. This was formula enough to guess the complete film pretty much from the very beginning. However, I suspect the drama is the character interaction and not a mystery or action. All the actors were good in their parts and very believable. I thought Blythe Danner was exceptional.
The basic story is of a Marine vet, on his third tour of duty in Iraq; Sgt. Logan Thibault (Zac Efron) finds a picture during the war. He believes this is his good luck charm and is determined to find the person behind the smile in the picture that he owes his life to. He finds more than he bargained for. Did he find more than he could handle?
