Dope, duplicity, and violence fill this gasser of a novel from a prot?g? of William S. Burroughs Set in the scorched cityscape of the Reagan-era Lower East Side of Manhattan, The Lotus Crew is Stewart... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Good character development begs the questions: where did these people come from and where did they go? Is there a sequel to this book? Character named "Specs" clearly understands that there is more to this story than drug use -- he's seems to be an observer as well as a participant in the story. Who is he before the story begins and what happens to him when the story ends?As a protege of William Burroughs, it seems that Mr. Meyer could tell us more; he has the inside track (no pun intended)as well as the the storytelling skills to tell us more. Would he?
Lotus Crew the real deal

This book is the best thing since sliced bread as far as anything written about the L.E.S. dope scene in the early to mid 80's. Mr. Meyer captures the feel of this hardcore environment with his lean prose and vivid imagery. This book is the son and heir of Burrough's Junky. A must read for anyone interested in this genre.
One of the BEST books i've ever read.

Stewart Meyer's writing is captivatingly raw, and his depiction of East Side New York is stellar. The realness is amazing. Definately an inside into the dope world.
Electrifying

This booked rocked my world - gritty, intense, realistic tale of the junk game in New York in the eighties. "Walking the plank" has a whole new meaning now, read the book to understand what I mean. I highly recommend this book to fans of Burroughs, Bukowski and other writers. Stewart Meyer has captured the seedy underbelly of drug culture like nobody else, this book rules!!!
Best book I ever read.
