Basic Pies

I bought this as a gift, but of course I reviewed it before gifting. It was really basic and great for really teaching you the how to's of pie making (something that is truly a lost art)

$5.95 for a slim volume of recipes that use a great deal of sugar

This book is interestingly written in a chatty tone. I probably not follow the recipes because of the high sugar content but I will review it when I make savory pies.

With Swell's passion and knowledge of the simpler times, or so we believe, she has created this book filled with wonderful recipes, such as: Shoofly, Louisiana Peanut and Concord Grape pie. For all pie lovers and historic cooking lovers, pick up this book too. Swell's pie book is sure to please!
