Heart-warming and Compelling

Anna has spent twenty years in a marriage from hell, locked in with Erik because of their children and politics. Erik is a successfully trial attorney with ties to equally successfully politicians, and each time Anna has tried for a divorce, Erik is quick to put an end to it. Anna finally realizes she has no choice but to get away from her tainted marriage for her own safety and the safety of her children, but once they are separated everything begins to fall apart for Anna. Erik starts using his powerful connections with the law to keep Anna away from her children, and using his manipulation skills to deteriorate the once strong bond between a mother and her kids. The Look of Love by Jill Egizii was a touching story, yet I found it difficult to read at times. The brutal honesty and eyes wide open look at parental alienation, psychological devastation, and manipulation of the justice system was hard to swallow at times. Egizii is an advocate for parental alienation awareness, serving as a board member on a number organizations to educate about the devastating effects, and the knowledge readers can gain from this novel is profound. The story that surrounds love, family, and a mother's quest of well-being for her children is heart-warming and compelling.

A realistic account of a vindictive ex-spouse

The Look of Love reveals how power and politics can contribute to alienating a mother from her children. Parental Alienation is not gender related. Still, many erroneously believe that alienation happens only to men. While the book is a novel, alienated parents will realize they are not alone. Alienated mothers can relate to the life of Anna. The Book reveals how power differentials come into play and the destruction that can ensue. Anna's ex-spouse, an attorney, desired revenge. He went to great lengths attempting to turn her life up-side down. I think it is an exceptional read for both women and men. However, it is a must read for women that have a vindictive ex-spouse and feel they are the only one enduring such heartbreak.

A fine read, recommended

Challenging a professional boxer to a fist fight won't turn out well, and neither will challenging a lawyer to a legal battle. "The Look of Love" tells the story of Anna, a woman faced with divorce from her attorney husband. The legal battles over her kids and custody leave her at a disadvantage, as her ex-husband does everything he can to prevent Anna from finding her family and being happy. When everything looks to be at its worst, Anna has to try to make a recovery in life. "The Look of Love" is a fine read, recommended.

Wow! By the Grace of God

Arghhh! This book makes me so mad...and so full of hope. I hate the idea that injustices like this can still go on. Anyone of us with kids, who's been divorced can say, 'There but by the Grace of God go I.' Even though this book is fiction it provides a wake up call to the ways the system can be exploited. A must read! M Quinn
