What if there was an advanced civilization living on earth right now, under our noses? Would we even know?

What if they ran out of room on their current land, needed to expand, and used weather as a weapon of war?
How far would the government of the USA go in attempting to acquire their technology?

The hero of "The Longest Winter" is not yet born as the story begins. He grows up in a single parent household with his mom and older brother, desperately seeking any information about his dad. When an advanced civilization living right here on earth runs out of room, they are forced to reach out and once again make contact with the rest of humanity. That leads to the hero finding out that his dad has been living with the advanced civilization for years, and he also ends up living with them for an extended time, contributing further to their technological advancements. At first, the USA is allied with the advanced civilization, and things go smoothly for the family. The road gets bumpy when the USA doesn't fully honor the alliance, and war ends up being declared.

That's when a previously unknown agency of the US government steps out of the shadows, partially at least...
