compelling story about survival during WWII

The Long Walk Home is a compelling story about a family's ability to survive both Stalinist and Nazi persecution during World War II. The book could have benefited greatly from a good editor, but typesetting and grammatical issues aside, it is well worth the time to read this story. The troubles that send them from one camp to another, with escapes and captures abounding, are as exciting as any fictional story you will read. The hardships and sacrifice they undergo should serve as a lesson to appreciate everything we have today, particularly in a country without those restrictions they faced.
