In the summer of 1984, a group of Briarwood College students return to an abandoned place buried beneath years of silence: Camp Mercy. Once presented as a refuge for troubled young people, the camp hides a far darker history of psychological abuse, institutional secrecy, and attempts to "correct" those who refused to become what others demanded. When the group begins uncovering old records, photographs, counseling files, and recordings connected to the death of their friend Luis, they realize someone has been watching them-and knows far more about their fears, secrets, and private lives than any stranger should.
As the weekend turns deadly, Stacy, Gregory, and their friends are forced deeper into Camp Mercy's ruins while a methodical killer transforms their trauma into a weapon. Every new clue points back toward Briarwood, its counseling system, and a philosophy known as Continuity, where compassion can become control and healing can become something much more dangerous. Set against the fear, prejudice, and uncertainty of 1984, The Lobotomist is a psychological slasher about friendship, queer survival, institutional betrayal, grief, and the terrifying consequences of allowing one person to decide which parts of another human being deserve to survive.
