Introduction: The Lion's Awakening
(To be read by parents, teachers, and older children)
Every child deserves to grow up knowing the true roots of the world they live in. Today, when children open their history textbooks, they are often taught a highly distorted narrative. They are told that the vast array of scientific, mathematical, architectural, and financial wonders of the Middle Ages materialized out of thin air, credited entirely to a religious expansion from the Arabian desert. They are taught that civilization was brought to Iran.
This book was written to directly challenge that myth with undeniable, physical, and historical truth.
The historical reality is that the advanced, thousands-of-years-old civilization of Iran civilized its conquerors. When tribal forces invaded the Sasanian Persian Empire, they did not bring a system of statecraft, engineering, or advanced mathematics with them. Instead, they inherited a highly sophisticated imperial superpower. To prevent their new empire from collapsing, they had to rely entirely on the Iranian people to run the bureaucracy, manage the economy, and keep the spark of science alive. While other conquered regions like Egypt and North Africa were completely Arabized-losing their native languages and original cultures-the Iranian people fiercely defended their identity. They swallowed the invaders into their own cultural sphere, preserved their beautiful language (Farsi), and used their ancestral knowledge to build the very foundation of the modern world.
