an excellent home-spun account of a Canadian's war .

Peppard was a young man who wasn't afraid to be afraid and admit it. His book is a candid look into the mind and morals of a genuine Canadian hero. He was not only a "lighthearted soldier" - he never took himself seriously but he exhibited the kind of courage when the 'chips were down that won him a Silver Star for outstanding bravery. We'd love to know him better.
