The Last Viking

During the Dark Ages, Dublin, Ireland was a Viking base and their center for the slave trade. By 905, Vikings were converting to the Christian Religion and fighting among themselves because of it. Christianity was becoming the spiritual foundation of European society and spreading across the known world. In 1014, the Pagan Norsemen were defeated in the Kingdom of Ireland at the Battle of Clontarf, and Paganism was outlawed. Wolfgang Steiner, the Bastard German son of a Viking chieftain killed in the battle, leads his men away from Ireland. Wolfgang, with no claim to his father's clan, set sail with his loyal crews for the Kingdom of Germany to outfit and repair their two ships for a long voyage. All those who followed Wolfgang were aware of the tales of Leif Eriksson and the lands south of Markland. Everyone wanted to go exploring, trading and raiding, and all had visions of filling their ships with plunder and slaves in Vinland. This is the story of that journey after leaving the Kingdom of Germany. Wolfgang is in a strange land, among strange people, where he will face the most brutal tribe in the New World, the Mohawks, whom other tribes call the "man-eaters."
