Alex holds an unknown secret that the Gormons, a warlike tribe from another world, desperately seek. The Gormons send Tre Boor after five-year-old Alex, but before Tre Boor has a chance to complete his mission, Queen Kah Leen learns of the Gormon plot and sends Setis Lib to intercept the Gormon. Setis Lib gains Alex's trust, but Alex is faced with a difficult task: he must convince his parents to build, and then use, a portal to Landahar. If Alex's parents don't take their son's plea seriously, Tre Boor will continue to haunt their son. If they follow their son's plan, they will unknowingly enter a fantasyland of unique animals, mysterious cultures, and wizards.
