The Kensington Chronicles

Meet Kensington Shaw a purveyor of magical objects with the bad luck of stumbling over the dead. As a purveyor of magical objects she sets her own hours, makes her own money, and makes her own rules in prohibition era Chicago. However, it isn't all roses, she soon starts to find trouble wherever she goes including in the Underground, a magical version of Chicago not many know is right under their feet.

Death Dance

Kensi is dancing the night away with her old friend Freddy until he collapses with no signs of trauma besides a blue tint on a fingertip. After realizing detective Kane isn't equipped to handle a murder by magical means Kensi decides to look around on her own.

Darkness Becomes You

When Kensi receives a mysterious note she must dodge dead bodies and nosy detective Kane to discover who wants a dangerous elixir no one knows Kensi can create, but she isn't the only one with secrets. Kane has a big one of his own.

Interlude With Death

New Year's Eve finds Kensi staying home because her father's usual party has been canceled at the last minute. When the angel of death comes calling, Kensi takes up his challenge. With zombies at her literal door, Kensi discovers finding the dead is not her only talent.

A Wild Death

While foraging in the woods of the underground for magical ingredients Kensi happens upon a dead socialite from upstairs Chicago. She doesn't realize finding a body in the underground will lead to heading the natural history museum's fund-raising committee to solve the murder.

A Deadly Garden Party

Kensi expects to drop off a magical object to a client, but things turn deadly when she discovers her client murdered in an enchanted lush garden. While the rest of Chicago shivers in the cold Kensi's the one feeling the heat to catch the killer or Kane will be next.

Underground Ghosts

The past comes back to haunt both Kensi and Kane during a trip to the underground. Kensi visits the estate sale of a former client to right a past wrong. Meanwhile Kane's brother shows up forcing Kane to confess dark secrets to Kensi, putting their new found trust to the test.

Kensi is great!

I absolutely love Kensington Shaw! She is a fiercely independent woman, an expert potions maker and though she keeps stumbling upon dead bodies (not her fault of course) she does do her best to solve why they are dead (much to the consternation of Detective Kane) and still wear the latest fashion. It is a wonderful combination and I enjoyed all these little stories about her in the great city of Chicago (and the Underground). It is fun to have the chapters be stories of their own but still have an over arching theme (finding the stones of Malachi being part of it, plus the dal makers). There is much magic and darkness but also good people and even better looking guys that Kensington gets to know and learn to work with. I really hope that we get more stories with Kensi and the detective, because I want to know if she can find the stones, plus if the sparks fly with Kane or maybe a certain dark stranger? Fun and fast read and I do highly recommend this book!
