This was definitely a heartwarming cozy fantasy! All about finding the place that makes you happy, with the one that completes you and learning that great magic is not needed to bring a village back to life. There is humor, a bit of romance, but mostly learning to connect with people, making friends and trusting them to have your back. I loved this so much! Especially with the sweet feeling that made me all warm inside when I finished this charming tale of little magics making big changes in the town of Shpelling, the Mage's Guild, and the kingdom itself.
I must say, Certainty, despite her disappointments in her magic (which I still think is awesome!) in only being able to speak to objects and hear them and convince them to do something, is someone that would be fun to be friends with. She has such a good outlook on life and can make a positive out of almost every situation she finds herself in. As a foil, Mage Aurelia is definitely the opposite but it makes for a good tale, especially when you find out why she is that way (and let say, her parents have so much to answer for!). Thank goodness she gets to work with Certainty! Add in small magics with sometimes humorous side effects that change a village, a burgeoning romance, a mean little man and others who want to keep all the magic, and who can forget the catdragon plus a happy ever after that I found lovely and surprising and it is a wonderful tale that I will have fun reading more than once!
So, this is a great example of cozy fantasy with plenty of magic and heartwarming moments and humor with a satisfyingly happy ending and I am glad I got the chance to read this.
