From a Catholic standpoint, one of the best works I have ever read on the relationship you want to have and should have with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Great Help in Studying Christology

Phillip Yancy does a superb job of bringing the reader face to face with Jesus Christ from a fresh perspective. As Pastors, we must understand the culture we live in to minister to that culture effectively (in the world not of the world). Yancy effectively views the life of Christ from that perspective!

He talks about the Beatitudes in a way you may have never thought about before. He is not shy about talking about his own sins and how he personally approaches temptations. Read this book if you want to find the only physical description of Jesus in the Bible.
