The Iron Triangle is the story of a First Infantry Division officer in Vietnam who finds himself facing an old enemy far more treacherous than the North Vietnamese. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Joe Rhinehart has written a soldier's masterpiece from first line experience and extensive education. Joe returned from his last tour in Vietnam in 1968 and returned to college and achieved his masters degree before being assigned to West Point as an English instructor. Joe once said to me "could you ever imagine me teaching English?" He had a real talent for making the story flow while including all the important details of military life. He was keenly aware of the importance of every soldier regardless of rank or position and had an uncommon ability for diplomacy. He was a great infantryman, tactician and heavily decorated hero. I was proud to have served under him in 1968.
From a woman's perspective

Joe Rhinehart's book, The Iron Triangle, was one of the best books I've read. I would not usually read war stories, but this book was so real and descriptive that I felt the author was telling me his story in person. The love story in the background was very sensitive and poignant to the horrors of the war. I didn't want to put the book down. I saw Vietnam through Joe's eyes and could almost physically feel the pain. I believe this book should appeal to both men and women.

The book (The Iron Triangle) was outstanding. I could not put the book down until I completed reading it. I served under the author in 1968 while in Vietnam. Neil Burke

Joe Rhinehart's book tells a very intresting story from a professional soldiers perspective. I had the pleasure and honor of serving under Joe Rhineharts command in 1967 and 1968 and besides being one of the best company commanders there ever was, he could also write a darn good book.
much needed

terrific. We've long needed a novel like Joe Rhinehart's to remind us how much we owe to the generation of soldiers who thanklessly fought for us in the most miserably cold and miserably hot of combat zones. Rhinehaart knows his way around soldiers and soldiering. His super eye for details makes Korea and Viet Nam come alive. Against that backgrund he tells the old, old story of soldiers in a foreign land and their relationship with the women there--but with the important twist that the Americans were not conquerers but defenders, and Rhinehart does great things with this difference. Or read it for the action.
