The Invisible Child Finally Finds Love

This is the memoir of a little girl who was abandoned by her family at the tender age of four and sent to a Catholic boarding school in upstate New York. The nuns there were cruel and vindictive, and she needed all the pluck and wit her little soul could muster to survive their eight years of abuse. After escaping the Catholic boarding school, reuniting with family, and muddling through high school, things don't get much better for our author. At 18, she finds herself homeless, sleeping mainly at Grand Central Station but occasionally on the couch of a friend. To earn money, she draws and sells her artwork in the streets. She then parlays that budding artistic talent into several modeling and acting gigs. From there, she meets a bevy of creative types whom she lovingly calls her "family of characters." But she still feels abandoned. And then fate smiles upon her. In her 20s, after a failed marriage, she falls deeply in love with a tall handsome romantic songwriter who happens to have a gold record on his resume. A passionate love affair ensues, with ups and downs and several breakups. But eventually, they fight through their issues and conclude that they couldn't possibly live without each other. Our author, who was abandoned at four years old, finally finds the one thing she wanted most in life: the indestructible commitment of love.
