My Favorite Story Collection

Paula Sharp has a knack for creating unforgettable characters and wild stories, and this early work of hers shows just why publishers should bend over backwards to publish short-story collections as well as novels. I bought this book after reading a Chicago Tribune review that declared every story in the collection to be a "small masterpiece". They were right - the characters pull you right in, a hard thing to accomplish in a space as small as a short story. There isn't a dud in the whole collection -- each story is a great tale, and many of the stories are very funny, too. Anyone who loves short stories should read this collection.

Sticks in your tummy.

A fun series of short stories where someone, somehow is an imposter, Paula Sharp can put a fresh twist on everything. You'll laugh, frown, smile, and most of all care about the characters. Write more about Netta and Stanley!A standout is where a deadbeat dad is literally fought off by a bunch of kids, the town gossip, and a rake.
