The Holy Order of Water: Healing the Earth's Waters and Ourselves

Long gone are the days of drinking naturally pure water from flowing rivers and streams--or even your tap. Today it is becoming common practice to use bottled or filtered water. How did we arrive at such a state, and what can we do about it?

Pollution, ever-increasing population, industrial pressures, rainforest destruction, and ground water waste have all led to the deterioration of water quality, yet the underlying problem--as Marks shows in his wide-ranging, thoughtful book--is the general lack of understanding of the nature of water itself.

Marks' topics are as diverse: water's role in the origin of the universe and life itself; cosmic rain and water in interstellar space; water in the traditional myths and religions; the power of water in its many forms in the natural world; vortex energy and living water; water and the human body; water healing; and a history of water pollution. He offers hope for the future by discussing the work of visionaries such as Theodor Schwenk and Viktor Schauberger.

We see that, in the end, one cannot understand water unless it is viewed as a mediator--not only between life and death, but also between the physical and the spiritual worlds.

The most important book you will read this year

This book is as important to the Earth as Water itself. Many of us are increasingly concerned about what we are doing to the environment. Our concerns about the plight of water and its importance to the survival of life on this planet are addressed magnificently in this book that describes powers of water of which even I was unaware! Water is a mystical, magical substance, and oh how we take it for granted; filling it with carmel coated sugar substances for profit; tossing our waste products into it as if it had no value of its own, wasting it on "the perfect lawn" which servies absolutely no purpose or function, or even washing our cars, which cry the death knoll of Earth daily. Care enough about Water to read this book. Pass it on to your friends. Give it as a gift for Arbor Day, Earth Day, Valentine's day. It's the most important book you will read this year.

I foresee the Holy Order of Water becoming the definitive reference standard for both students and scholars in the realm of environmental studies. There is something in this book for everyone as it takes the reader on a fascinating journey from waters history to our health; from global geography to our current state of ecological crisis. It ultimately gives us hope for tomorrow and sparks in the reader an incentive to take action to conserve, and not take for granted, this precious resource.

Consciousness for survival/evolution

William E. Marks provides an exquisite, holistic analysis of water. While fundamentalist visions of the end of times pervade the consciousness of our faltering species, Marks gives a healthy, grounded alternative for those who seek the evolution of humanity. The mystery of water is deeply engaged, as Mark's account flows through science, religion, health, history, and philosophy proving that reverence for water has always been and continues to be our saving grace. Revere water, revere life.
