An excellent blend of humor and mystery evolves.

Mary Wilcox's THE HOLLYWOOD SISTERS ON LOCATION provides the second novel in the 'Hollywood Sisters' series: familiarity with the first will lend a quicker appreciation of plot and focus here. Someone is out to destroy a Hollywood teen's career, so her sister decides to lead an investigation to uncover who and why. An excellent blend of humor and mystery evolves.

When we last left almost fourteen-year-old Jessica Ortiz in The Hollywood Sisters: Backstage Pass (The Hollywood Sisters), she'd just saved the day by catching the freaky stalker who was harassing one of the stars of Two Sisters. Now, the Ortiz family is back, along with a whole new set of problems. Even though Jess's sister, Eva, is one of the stars of a hot television show, it's hard hanging out on set when your own special jinx seems to bring trouble wherever you go. After the near-misses with a string of Very Special Guest Stars, she was almost banned from the set. This time around, her luck might be changing -- at least when it comes to her on-set problems. Or maybe not. First, her sister gets skunked -- literally. Then someone tampers with one of the props for a crucial scene. Then an animal guest star goes missing. Oh, sure, the cast, crew, and family members of Two Sisters gets to travel to Mexico to shoot on location, but if Jess can't solve the mystery of who is causing all this trouble, there might not be a show to film in the first place! Travels and Tricks

There are many teen and tween books which feature child stars, but rarely are their stars well-adjusted! Thankfully, teen actress Eva is quite down-to-earth. She is enjoying her newfound celebrity without letting it go to her head. Meanwhile, her younger sister Jessica would rather stay off-camera. In this book, she gets to travels with Eva to some exotic (Mexico!) and not-so-exotic locales. When disaster strikes on the set, everyone starts to point fingers at each other, and Jess decides to get to the bottom of the mess. On Location, like its predecessor Backstage Pass, is a clean and quick read. The Hollywood Sisters series is suitable for young readers who want a little mystery, a little glamour, and a lot of fun.
