Book Overview

Seventeen-year-old Maggie Duncan is torn between her obligations as a dutiful daughter and her hatred of her father's cruel pursuit of money and power. But on the boundary between childhood and womanhood, Maggie discovers it is not her father who stands in the way of her happiness-it is her own tightly held bitterness. Drawn to a man quietly struggling to overcome his past, Maggie must learn to let go of hatred and embrace divine love and forgiveness. In The Heather Hills of Stonewycke two best-selling authors begin a glorious series about hearts and minds being opened to God. Davina Porter's wonderful narration captures all the sweep and grandeur of this panoramic saga.

Definitely read this one!

I picked up this book yesterday evening and I couldn't put it down. I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to Maggie and Ian. Now I have to go find the next books in the series! I also enjoyed the thread of faith in God that the authors wove throughout the book. It was a great read!

Equal parts preaching and entertainment?

I found this book by accident in a bookstore, and am glad I bought it. It is an excellent story. The setting is well-described, the writing style is eloquent, and the characters are presented with depth and emotion. The only slight problem with this book is that it does hold a very obvious Christian bias. I was not aware that this book fell into the genre of "Christian fiction" when I bought it. Although the plot is great and the story is very entertaining, it is obvious to me that the authors intend to bring a stong faith element to the story. I wish the authors had broken out of their Christian bias long enough to simply tell a good story. However, in spite of the Christian bias to the story, I will still complete all six books in this series. This is a great tribute to the authors, because in spite of the fact that they have introduced a bias that I personally do not agree with, the story is still worth reading to the end.

One of my favorite books ever!

The Heather Hills of Stonewycke is a wonderful book. The characters are so realistic and you feel as though you're right there with Maggie, Ian, Digory, Atlanta, and James. It was a beautifully written novel and everyone should read. The only bad part was when I finished all six of the books!

Maggie and Ian are unforgettable!

This book makes you fall in love with Scotland. You can practically hear the heather rustling. You share the triumphs and disappointments of Maggie and you can't help but fall in love with Stonewycke. You learn to love Maggie. Once you read this book you'll love it forever!

Intriguing historical love story set in Ireland

If you read this, you MUST finish the trilogy. Maggie and Ian are fascinating characters caught up in a mixture of love, legal problems and family struggles.
