A comprehensive modern analysis from 1970 still applicable today!

This book has over 800 dreams analyzed, containing 85 illustrations graphically depicting the tools of dream analysis and is the complete text of it's hardback version. Dr. Gutheil describes the methods of active analysis which, while retaining all the advantages of orthodox Freudian therapy, reduces the length of treatment and increases the likelihood of favorable results. This is achieved by a new focus in dream interpretation-a focus on psychodynamics rather than on the meaning of individual symptoms. Through an understanding of the dream, it's significance and it's symbols, the reader is made aware of the value of dreams in the discharge of emotional energy, in the prevention of shock, in warning of incipient psychic & physical illness, and in wish fulfillment, enabling a greater understanding of the human mind and it's complexity. This book analyzes & evaluates the contributions of many psychiatrists, including Freud, Adler, Jung and Stekel.
