The Greatest Disappointment

By Kate Brockie

With grands dreams and a bag full of cake, Bernard is the first coddiwomple to ever venture to the magical Land Beyond the Blossoms.

But Bernard's expedition takes an unfortunate turn when he discovers that his destination never existed.

Lost and lonely, Bernard instead stumbles onto a more important journey.

The Greatest Disappointment is a lucky misadventure of finding friends in unlikely circumstances, beauty in unexpected places, and the greatest joys even among the most severe disappointments.

The Greatest Disappointment is the debut story from illustrator Kate Brockie. It was dreamt up both as a personal remedy for, and response to, the Covid-19 Lockdown. Bernard and Mimwhit gave her comfort during those unsettling times, and she hopes they might keep others company on their (mis)adventures too.
