The Good Burn: a memoir

I was 37 years old and hadn't seen my dad in twenty years, when my wife insisted I seek him out. I found him in the Adirondack region of northern New York. After a couple of very brief visits, I decided to join him for a 6-day road trip from Syracuse, NY to the small town of Bucerias, on the west coast of Mexico, in an effort to get to know him. My goal was to learn about his life and, with any luck, like him.

Due to Ray's poor health, which was declining by the mile, the goal of reaching Bucerias was derailed. However, the goal of getting to know him better was much more than I bargained for.
