Customer Reviews

The story has been told and retold, but never as well as by Robert Payne.

There is a reason this book keeps being reprinted. It is easy to follow and fun to read: "The Story of Heinrich Schliemann and the Buried Cities of Ancient Greece." We get a blow-by-blow telling of Schliemann's thoughts and plans as he unregenerately dives into hills and pilfers trinkets. We also get the background of Schliemann's life and loves.
