The Gliese Project

Dr. Sarah Chambers, Dr. Haneefah Baqri, and Dr. Raza Ahuja, all technically-oriented Ph.D.s with different sets of skills, first met at a job fair sponsored by the University of California at Berkeley. Their meeting was unplanned and in many respects, coincidental. As a result, however, they were drawn together in an unlikely alliance by a mysterious set of circumstances that was set into motion by an equally mysterious employer who was only identified as "HETC."

They were offered, as a team, a very lucrative, month-long engagement to conduct research at HETC's isolated underground headquarters in the California desert near the Nevada border. Their first assignment was to analyze the feasibility of a proposal to develop and deploy orbiting solar arrays as a future energy source to help address Earth's rapidly growing and seemingly insatiable appetite for energy. The project was called "Helios" after the Greek god of the Sun. All this was done under the umbrella of one of HETC's four main projects - The Gliese Project - which was focused on Energy Technologies.

After completing their first project, they went on to participate in three following projects. These four projects were: "Helios" (the Greek god of the Sun) - Orbiting Solar Arrays, they were asked back to participate in three more projects, which involved reverse-engineering technologies found on board a downed and salvaged UFO: "Kratos" (the Greek god of power) - Magnet Pulse Motor Generator (MPMG);"Aeolus" (the Greek god of the winds) - Electrogravitics;"Demeter" (the Greek goddess of the harvest) - Quantum Vacuum Electromagnetic Generators (Zero Point).Their research culminated in startling conclusions, but the experiences they had during their stay at the underground facility on the first three projects left them with more questions than answers.
However, after completing the last project, Demeter, they finally had all the answers to their questions.

"Detestable Vermin"

"The Gliese Project" is an outstanding read for any adult wanting to follow a high-tech mystery involving the lives of the three key characters as they travel along an adventurous path toward an unknown goal. The plot intensity increases as they are confronted by technological complexities and challenges. The depth of the plot layers poses a bourgeoning difficulty requiring their collective genus to fully understand the overall trajectory of the project's journey. The mentors have drawn the three into a collective quest to discern a goal yet to be fully understood. As one reads toward the end of the book, the true nature of the climax is curiously imperceptible until the end jarringly comes into focus. It is best to read the Epilogue as you proceed through the pages. Doing so provides depth of understanding necessary to discern the layers of meaning to the story and insight into the purpose of the "Numbered Creatures" that mysteriously guide the characters to their final destination. "The Gliese Project" is unlike any work I've read. It's a challenge.
