The book is the edition, publication and annotation of two substantialpassages of a Commentary on Genesis that has been ascribed to theeighth-century Armenian theological and commentator, Bishop Step'anos ofSiwnik. One passage has been previously published but never translatedinto English, the second passage is newly-discovered and for it the bookis the editio princeps. Even if the ascription to Step'anos isnot authentic, the work is an early one, and an eighth-century date isnot implausible.
