Fiery Lady Margaret Underwood enjoyed being immensely wealthy, but by the terms of the late Earl of Barringham's will she would soon have to marry or give up her fortune. Then she found herself challenged by a man as stubbornly devoted to his bachelorhood as she was to her own willful ways...
This is one of my favorite Mansfield books. It is sweet and funny. The secondary characters are well-developed and you really feel like you become part of the house party that is described. The romance never goes deeper than kisses, so if you are looking for sensual romance, this isn't the book for you, but if you like romances that don't make you blush, this is for you. I especially liked the way the characters discovered things about themselves that they didn't really want to face up to, and how it made them mature. The description of the frost fair on the Thames was very interesting. This is a light-hearted "keeper" for my shelf--definitely a "feel-good" read, a comfort food like mac and cheese. Great for warming up a cold winter day!
