Great for all ages and 15 books in 1!

Everyday my 21 month old son and 5 year old daughter ask to read Frog and Toad! We love the delightful stories of friendship and the crazy shenanigans they get into. Our favorite stories are Cookies, Icecream, and The Swim. I love that there are 15 stories in this Treasury!

a must-have

I spotted this book in a local bookstore recently and, remembering the characters fondly from my own youth, bought a copy for my 3 1/2 year old. This version is three-in-one, a total of fifteen to twenty classic stories about important values such as bravery, the sweetness of friendship, willpower and indulgence, pessimism and hope, humility, getting angry and making amends, persistence in the face of derision, and so on, all told in a gently humorous, highly affectionate language that speaks in a way young children can readily understand. Hard to overstate the quality of this book both in content and delivery. Ten stars if I could. Probably best suited for 2-7 years of age. By the way, I'm not sure why this version is credited to Alyssa Satin Capucilli. It's the Arnold Lobel book through and through.

Ain't Nothin' Like Arnold Lobel for Beginning Readers!

I am an ESOL teacher and no matter what age or grade level I am teaching, I always have a few beginning readers. For beginning readers, there is no author as wonderful or necessary as Arnold Lobel. Frog and Toad seems to be every beginning reader's friend. They are entertaining characters and the stories are fun. The stories also introduce frequent sight words and reinforce them through exposure. One can be cynical about Arnold Lobel but I can tell you, he works! If students are willing to read his books, no matter what age they are, I guarantee they will get better and move on to higher level reading. Wonderful books and the best in beginning readers.

great on two levels--for beginning readers and for toddlers

For your beginning readers, these heartwarming stories of a child-like friendship between Frog and Toad are excellent, a fine complement to the Little Bear series, for example. For the toddler being read to, these books also provide great delight. This daddy loves to read Toad's voice as a deep, slightly daft Englishman, while Frog's voice is, naturally, an outrageous French one. (It works--try it!) The stories are charming, affirm praiseworthy values (above all friendship), and are short enough to gauge your evening ritual precisely. Highly recommended.

Frog Rules, or should that be toad?

This is a first class collection of stories for children to read, or be read to. There is a wry, understated humour that delights both child and parent.

Frog and Toad - Warm stories to snuggle with

My seven year old son is not nearly as thrilled with reading as his mother, but at last we have found a collection that he can't get enough of. Frog and Toad are the perfect bedtime characters. The stories are simple and sweet, and my son tells me that they make him feel "warm and cozy". The reading level is appropriate for him as a second grader. And even my four-year-old will settle in to listen to the latest tales of Frog and Toad. This is a must-have collection!
