The Founding of Evercrest

By R T Kephart

As the world starts to recover from the zombie virus, three great cities-Plain's Haven, Citadel, and Silver Spire-join forces to build a new future. Evercrest was to be a beacon of hope, a thriving settlement meant to break the isolation caused by survival. And for a time, it was, untouched by the chaos beyond its borders. No marauder invasions. No zombie attacks. Just peace.
But safety is an illusion.
When Citadel falls to a sudden and brutal outbreak, everything changes. Almost overnight, its people are turned into raging, mindless husks, and now the infected are surging toward Evercrest. To make matters worse, the chaos has emboldened the marauders, who begin circling like vultures, their eyes set on the vulnerable.
Should the citizens of Evercrest flee, or close their gates and prepare to be besieged? Despite the words of their leaders - words that the wise should not ignore- fear takes hold and divisions form. With the enemies at their doorstep and trust unraveling within, the greatest threat to Evercrest may not be the disease, but the people themselves.
