The women in this novel will get into your heart -- fair warning!I still find myself wondering about them. They lived their lives as best they could within the context of their time. Matilda's words haunt me, "You can not stop my love more than you can stop the wind." And while her love remained she separated herself from her lover. Haley Elizabeth Garwood does a fantastic job of pulling in her readers and keeping the story alive. The persosnalities are real and enthalling. I read this book on the plane trips over Christmas and found that I couldn't put it down. Each chapter makes you want to go on the the next to see what happens. A great book to share with friends. Can't wait for her next installment on the Warrior Queen Series.

If Like myself you enjoy a good historical read that is into a lot of facts and not much romance then this is a book you should try. For a first book it truly is a winner. I look forward to the next installment.

Dr. Garwood shows the depth of her research in this wonderfully written 12th century novel. It is filled with adventure, intrigue, love, passion, and power. The beautiful setting of England as the backdrop to the intense real life drama shows us the skill that Dr. Garwood has as a novelist. I loved it. Her characters were developed well and interesting throughout the book. It is the kind of book that you hate to have end.
