The Babies of Waldorf Farm is a series of photographs of newborn foals and the bonding that occurs between a mare and her foal at birth. I've had the priviledge of documenting dozens of foalings at Waldorf Farm over the past few years, each foaling as beautiful and meaningful as my first. As I watch the mare and foal look into each others eyes and connect, I am continually reminded of the same connection that I've seen as I document the human/horse connection at equine assisted therapy centers throughout the country. Whether it's a child with autism, a veteran with PTSD, or anyone with a physical or mental impairment, the capacity of a horse to connect and be of service in this way is remarkable. It's so true what is often said - just being in the presence of a horse is therapeutic. The Foal Project was established to raise awareness and funding for all types of equine assisted therapies through the sale of these images depicting the moment of connection between a mare and her foal at birth. It's been my desire to help people understand how these equine therapies compare to traditionaltherapies, and I believe the images of The Foal Project help spread the word. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to The Foal Project Donor Advised Fund established at Adirondack Trust Company Community Foundation in Saratoga Springs, NY. From there, the funds are used to fill grant requests made by qualified 501 (c)3 Equine Assisted Therapy Centers.
