The Flower of the Night

In a 1970-s New York Fiona Frisk, a talented 18 years young emigrant woman makes a living by singing at an Upper East Side ethnic club and shares a nearby rent controlled apartment with Yvette, an experienced and streetwise call girl. Prior to the that time Fiona ran away from living with her aunt in New Jersey, who wanted to force her back to her native Hungary and nearly fell victim to a Madame who trades young girls to unsavory characters. Fiona escapes her clutch and becomes homeless and sings at the subway entrance at the Grand Central where Yvette finds her and takes her in. A young man, Steve Giuseppe befriends Fiona and promises her a better future in show business. She gets a good job at the Parisian Girl nightclub as a singer-dancer. She has a crush on Steve but the young man betrays her and marries for money a different woman, named Nelly. In desperation and revenge Fiona gives herself to Nick Butkus, a rich Greek shipping tycoon and becomes a kept woman and soon purchases a luxurious condominium on Fifth Avenue. All is well until Steve shows up and attempts to rape her. Fiona fights him off but in reprisal Steve gives a deposition to the police, that Fiona murdered an elderly rich woman, Mrs. Highlander. The murder was committed by Daniel Bronco, a Red Brigade terrorist and comrade of Rebecca Cohn, who is a close acquaintance of Steve. The three, Steve, Rebecca and Daniel conspires to have Steve become Mrs. Highlander executor and the other two will kill her and such gain control of her fortunes for their anarchist activities. Fiona gets arrested for the murder she did not do and loses her job at the club. Will she be able to prove her innocence, will there be any worthy friends who are willing to help her, and will she make herself a better person? Will Steve's good side be stronger than the influence of his greedy and unscrupulous associates? Will he confess his role in the murder to the authorities and free Fiona even it means he will have to serve hard time for it?
