My master's thesis examines how the flipped classroom teaching method can be implemented in the Technology and Design course to teach textile techniques in elementary school. It demonstrates how the flipped classroom approach meets the subject-specific, pedagogical, and curriculum-related requirements of textile arts instruction and how it should be structured. Based on theoretical background and the requirements of the Austrian curriculum, exemplary lesson models are presented for all four grades of elementary school. Central to this is the idea that shifting the timing of instructional phases allows more space for action-oriented, differentiated, and competency-based work. In addition to positive aspects, potential pitfalls and obstacles are also highlighted. This study aims to demonstrate how the flipped classroom can make a valuable contribution to the further development of technology and design instruction in elementary school.
