Super Natural

I got this book several months ago and put off reading it because it seemed like other books were calling out to me. I wish I would have read this book sooner. I loved it! The storyline was interesting and different. Liz ran away from home 20 years ago at the age of 15 after a frightening incident. She left behind her boyfriend and her family and let them believe she was dead. Twenty years later she returns to Louisiana, shocking the entire town to find out that she is alive. She soon discovers she is still in love with her teenage lover, Zach, and also finds out that she is the guardian of the Fire Opal. An interesting book with supernatural powers. A must read!

Super supernatural, a gripping story to sweep you away

This book was a new experience for me, one of those I didn't realize what I was walking into-or reading into. (Forgive the poor grammar.) However, reading on I found it impossible to put down, couldn't turn loose of the story or the characters, because I had to know what happened to them, regardless whether or not this was the type of book I usually read. It wasn't my usual thing, but it made no difference. Connie kept me hooked. Her imagery skills as she wrote the words made the story unfold in my mind as if it were a wide-screen movie, and I had the best seat in the house. The only hard thing to swallow (no pun intended) was the hero's ever bottomless flask, which defied explanation. Bored with the same old, same old...? I highly recommend Fire Opal by Connie Flynn if you're looking for something different. It's truly wonderful.

Great paranormal romance by a maestro

The townsfolk of Port Chatre, Louisiana are all stunned when Liz Deveraux arrives for the funeral of her mother Ellie because everyone thought the young lady was dead. Her mother's epitaph is fitting, even though Liz loathes it. The stone states: "Guardian of the Fire Opal: At Last She Rests". These are the same words that are written on the stone of Liz's grandmother.Liz's father Frank, the Protector, insists that "La Maladie Malefique" killed his beloved because he failed to protect her from the evil demon Ankouer. Frank knows that he has no choice but to enter the Bayou in order to fight the darkness in the demon's lair to regain the lost fire opal. Liz is stunned when her father goes swamp hunting. She turns to Zach Fortier, who always loved her, to help her rescue her father. Liz is the last surviving Guardian, but she does not believe in the family legend. She thinks that she and Zach are only saving a distraught, grieving person from himself. Little does she know that Ankouer plans on her elimination next. If she survives, perhaps her love for her protector Zach will flourish like that of her parents.Connie Flynn has the knack of taking an obvious fantasy and turning it into a believable tale that readers will think could occur in the real world. Her latest supernatural romance, THE FIRE OPAL, is a brilliant example of Ms. Flynn's uncanny ability to take the unreal and make it real. The story line is a first rate romance blended inside a frightening plot, proving once again that no one makes the para-world seem more like a perfectly normal occurrence than the fantastic Flynn.
