The Faerie Book is a comic book tale of the life and times of a few faeries that must overcome the dismay of a forgotten race of sprites and the beauty of loss under the great and mighty rule of Jon the King, the king of the faeries. When a quarter of the Mystical Forest is obliterated by invasive farming from an ill-managed sprite population by the greed of humans, Jon must endure with the incorrigible wisdom of Punkin the Unhatched, who aggravates and enlightens the ways of purity and discipline to Jon's usual nature of why and who. Un-benounced to Jon the King, Punkin leads the humans into a trap by a invoking a spell from Ursula the Wood Queen, which vicariously kills Jon the King, leaving the forest up in arms and under the rule of Ursula. Lillikins, the Sprite Queen, who furiously fights for the protection of her forest and the independence of her species, allies with Anne the Faerie, one of the few fairies that will actually socialize with humans, who happens to be incidentally related to Jon the King. Both species are dispersed after an attempt to resolve the conflict that Anne and Ursula the Wood Queen have over which mushroom that should have been used on an emploi during an in-coming swarm of bees; and consequently, a good number of faeries are eventually captured and placed on display in a woodshop by a local merchant, Ore the Handsome, who is banished from Ursula's rule due to betrayal and well, attempted capture. When Lady On hears of the capture, she lures a couple of willing animals to divulge the true intentions of the humans and stages a coup against Jon the King's return, thereby stalling the malicious intentions of Ursula and the human race, and barters Ursula's faeries for a vial of rare peony serum and a couple of wood chips for a couple of gullible trolls that continually have nothing better to do but critique the whereabouts of the next lot of pansies intended for harvest. All is copacetic until Ursula catches wind of Ore's attack and chooses to assist with On, throwing Caliopi into the dangerous yet righteous clutches of Sis Of The Kind, who has been plotting to rehabilitate coercion --- and, all are happy with the relationship --- but, as luck would have it, Caliopi happened to share one thing with Ursula: dominant proportions and the common good. Fortune lessens the degree, and Ursula the Wood Queen wars, sets Caliopi free, kills Ore the Handsome, and Mystical flourishes once again... eventually. Sans king. A perfect read for any size
