The Evil Below
For centuries, the monks of St. Bartholomew's Abbey have preserved their isolated community through plague, war, famine, and fire. Their official histories celebrate an unbroken tradition of prayer and service. What those histories omit is the reason the abbey was built-and what waits beneath it.
When Brother Gabriel Hale is assigned to St. Bartholomew's, he expects a life of disciplined silence among ancient books and aging monks. Instead, he encounters sealed passages, inverted crucifixes, unexplained knocks, and a ritual involving blindfolds, silence, and a knotted rope. The brothers insist that certain rules must be obeyed, even though few remember why.
As restoration work exposes long-hidden parts of the abbey, something below begins to listen, imitate, and learn. It speaks in familiar voices and offers answers shaped from grief, guilt, and hope. Gabriel must uncover enough of the abbey's buried history to protect those around him-without teaching the presence beneath them what it needs to escape.
The Evil Below is an atmospheric supernatural horror novel about memory, faith, forbidden knowledge, and the terrible danger of being recognized.
