Bessie Cubbon is surprised and disappointed when she learns that Andrew Cheatham isn't going to be staying in the holiday cottage next to her home on Laxey Beach when he visits the island in February. For the next week of cold case unit meetings, he's decided to stay in a hotel in Ramsey. It isn't until the first meeting that Bessie learns the reason why.

Police Inspector Nathan Fuller has come to the island with Andrew, to work with the unit on one of his cold cases that has always troubled him.
