This book outlines the events surrounding the end of the Soviet Union. Many theories abound for what the ultimate trigger was for the dissolution of The Soviet Union. Many of the issues are discussed but in the opinion of this author, The Soviet Union felt the political and economic pressure from both inside and outside their boundaries. The Soviet economy collapsed and President Ronald Reagan announced the US defense initiative called The Strategic Defense Initiative also known as 'Star Wars'. It was shortly after this effort that The Soviet Union began to dissolve. The Soviet 'fear' of 'The Star Wars program' was a major factor that was later confirmed by at least one Soviet scientist.
