Great Book - Not for Beginners

This is a great book that shows the examples of one of the most influential designers today. David Carson's design show how he breaks the rules of typography and design using his deconstructive design. Because he break the rules I would not recommend this book to a beginner. It is more geared towards some one who has already learned the basics of design and looking for inpsiration. I found that out the hardway.

A Great Resource for Typography and Design

Completely creative, cutting edge, and visually stimulating. David Carson's look at typography is a real eye opener to new and extreme avenues that this design element can bring. It's a fabulous resource, full of wonderful photography and great ideas. It's a great tool for designers and students alike. Very helpful and well worth the money.

A MUST HAVE REFERENCE!

I cant tell you how many times I return to this book for idea generation. "Dirty" design at its best. This book is better than the sequel but both are worth the investment.

Pure Genius

This book inspired me to try new techniques with typography and is a must for any modern designer! The book contains a lot of David Carson's early work as well as some really great ads for Ray Gun Magazine. I definately recommend picking this one up just to view such innovative work!

Must have for any serious designer

While many people consider David Carson's work far too "outrageous" for mainstream corporate design, his influence cannot be underestimated. This book will, if nothing else, inspire you to re-examine all the projects you have in-house. And, if you are like me, cause you to "push" the envelope" on your next project. I cannot recommend it highly enough
