The Earth in all its beauty,splendor and wonder.

A simply beautiful book of several hundred magnificient photographs.The book is 6 1/2" X 6 1/2" inches and 2" thick.The photographs are double page,full page and few are partial page in size. The paper,printing and color rendition is excellent. Every page is glossy which results in the pictures being as good as they could possibly be in book form.There is some text,but it is general in nature. As a matter of fact,I read only a few pages of the text and thus my rating is based on the photographs alone. Nearly all the photographs were taken from the air,therefore the detail is is sacrificed for the overall scene. I found that since most of the locations of the photographs were listed on a page other than the photograph;that it was a nuisance to keep turning back and forth,so in the end, I just skipped it and went ahead and enjoyed the pictures. Another thing I found missing was any explanation of the picture.In most cases,it doesn't really matter;but in others an explanation would have been appreciated. For example,pages,254-255,626-627,and 134-135.) I am very familiar with Niagara Falls and the plethora of photographs of this magestic site;but feel the photographs on pages 390 and 391 are less than inspired. All in all though, the book is excellent and filled with panoramic photographs that are breathtaking.

The colors and shapes of beautiful earth

The mountains, the deserts, the forests, the seashores, the great plains and rolling hills of the earth seen from above at different times of light are incredibly beautiful in this book. The text is secondary and small , but clear. literate and helpful. This book is the small treasure which it is pleasure to look into from time to time.

Great Educational Tool

I purchased this book for our school library. The pictures are awesome. This is the kind of book that leaves children with memorable information-meaning the pictures are such attention grabbers they are compelled to read the information. It would also make a great coffee table book.

so inspiring!

This is a great book with so many gorgeous pictures than are really inspiring... I spent hours in the sun flicking through the pages, looking at the beautiful photos taken around the world. The only part I went through quickly was the 'mountains' section where it was just too many photos of similar snowy mountains one after the other. Other than that, I highly recommend it!
