Book Overview
Rukundo lived in a small village in Rwanda, Africa. Each morning he would play his drum and wake the people of his village. Then Rukundo and the other children were sent to the water hole daily to get water to bring back to their village. The water now was never clean, and it carried disease. Sadly, after drinking the dirty water, Rukundo's family became sick and ended up at the hospital. Upset and frustrated, Rukundo turned to his drum and began playing. A reporter happened to see Rukundo and his family and began taking pictures for an article. With the help of the article and the good-hearted people who read the story, a water pump was installed in Rukundo's village. Social and emotional learning concepts include generosity, empathy, and helping others. Book includes a note to caregivers and story coaching. A Reader's Theater version is available online so that children can benefit from dramatic interpretation. This description may be from another edition of this product.
